This simple card uses several Stampin' Up items including the little girl and the saying from a "Summer by the Sea" set again vintage 2004 (that was my Stampin' Up year) . The sunflower was a 50 cent stamp and the ribbon was from the dollar bin at Michael's. As you can see, I used die cuts to create most of the interest and rather than coloring, I simply used bright colored paper in solid shapes. The quote is from Robert Wagner, who is apparently an actor from "not too long ago". After looking at his IMDB page, I maintain that he is an old time actor. But despite this reminder of time's passage, my mother and grandmother still loved the cards!
This beautiful card once again uses a variety of materials. The Angel center piece is from "Valentine Blueprint" by Jim Holtz. And the "Love" defeinition is from a Tim Holtz "Purely Random" set. If you can believe it, the Happy Valentines sentiment is from a roller stamp that I've had since high school and never used before. The heart embossing is a perfect backdrop and the "Especially for You" sentiment makes it a card for any one you care about, not just a sweetheart!
Poinsettia Design and Snowman Design Two more Christmas designs inspired from my card mentor. It is interesting to note that originally the snowman card used four silver brads, but I had to improvise because I made eight cards like this and could not find enough brads. Instead I used silver nailhead stickers. Despite the stickers taking some trial and error to get onto the paper exactly right, I am very proud of how the card turned out! This card began with an angel (several of them in fact). The other elements were added to highlight this beautiful stamp from the Stampin' Up vintage 2004 "Yuletide Montage". Lots of Jim Holtz materials used here. The saying was stamped using red and green distress markers and the aging was added using brushed corduroy distress ink. This year is the first that I have done homemade cards for nearly everyone and I hope that it becomes a true Christmas tradition. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
As you can see there's a lot to this design and I have to give most of the credit to my card mentor, my mother-in-law. I copied this design from her original (upper left corner) and just changed the ribbon to one I had available, although I do love the microcheck pattern ribbon! The placement mask in the lower right corner was a contribution by my dear husband. I also changed from a watercolor look to a simple colored pencil style. This card is great for your little nephew or your grandmother! Let them know how much you care with a hand-crafted greeting card!
